Comments
Comments: North Brother and an attempt at Fort from Daicey Pond. 5 of us set out; two turned back before the tarn with minor issues. Weds night snow mostly obliterated most of the tracks of the groups who ascended the previous weeks. Broke trail through 6-8" dense powder below, up to 2 feet dense powder up high, N Brother summit was windblown near the top. We set out toward Fort with good GPS tracks but decided the cold, wind, and unbroken conditions warranted a turn-around. See our report for South Brother on 2/28. Other details: skis were a big time and energy saver for some of us on the Tote Road. We arrived to Daicey using Foss & Knowlton (cutting across the ponds in places instead of using the trail), breaking it out beyond the snowmobile portion. Was broken out well when we exited, except where drifting has probably blown in our tracks across the ponds.
