Comments
Comments: The lower portion of the AT up to the junction with The Eyebrow can be done in spikes. Even a bit beyond that is still well packed with only small drifts. Once you get to about 2700 feet or so, the drifts become deeper and I switched to snowshoes and found them very helpful. I wore them on the descent all the way to beyond even the junction with The Eyebrow before switching back to spikes. It was brutally cold today and very windy so I don't know if my tracks will be drifted over by tomorrow. Plan on bringing the snowshoes, and wearing them, for sure. Please, don't be that guy who postholes the trail. We will all talk about you behind your back.
