Bugs
Bugs: Mosquitos & black flies were horrendous up until about 2500 ft. My clothes are treated and I wore a headnet. Long pants and long sleeves a must, I wouldn’t want to do this hike right now in shorts and short sleeves. Saying all this, I was not affected from biting insects.

Comments
Comments: It’s a ways to this trailhead but so worth it. Very steep climb but very fun. Several ladders broken and off to the side not in use. One section there is a rope that’s very helpful, but besides that it’s very doable with no technical hiking. Very hazy views at the summit… could barely make out Katahdin. A lot of towers, solar panels, and helicopter pad, making it a twisted mess up there. Didn’t look for a possible trail to true summit. Weather wasn’t looking to good and it looks like it would be a difficult bushwhack…. I did see all kinds of pretty wild flowers…. Painted trilliums, white and pink lady slippah’s, starflowers, buttercups, blue bead Lily’s, violets, Canadian mayflowers, goldthreads… very enjoyable and peaceful hike…. Only saw one person on their way up. ✌🏻
