Had a couple hours before our favorite spot opened for lunch. We needed this section, so off we went. Made good time, no rain, so we went to Big Deer Hill. Sun came out, lovely views, but dark clouds in the distance, so we started back. Not having read a description of the spring, I wondered what the significance was of a spur trail to a water source on short trails. We walked down the path, there was a small shallow pond with sand in the middle. As I got closer, I could see all the bubbles. An artesian spring! There were at least two signs asking people not to throw anything in (now none of us litter, but just about everyone likes to toss stones in water). One of the signs explains how it was formed. This is an interesting, short walk. I would encourage anyone to take an hour and enjoy this phenomenon. |
