Date of Hike: Saturday, August 7, 2021
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I chose not to drive my sedan past 1560' due to the increasing incline and more numerous and prominent rocks and ruts. Parked on the right side of the ATV trail off in a wide grassy area just before the fork. Round trip hike was 7.1 miles from here.

Water Crossing Notes: One small trickling runoff just past the ATV lookout/turn around area.

Trail Maintenance Notes: A few large blowdowns which could be stepped over or walked around.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: One or two small ones, gnats?, trying to land in my eyes every now and then. Nothing was biting. At the summit there were lots of fly-like bugs that were buzzing and slightly bothersome.

Comments
Comments: 4 ATVs passed me on the way up. Saw them again at the ATV lookout/turn around area. It was nice to get off the dry, hot, rocky ATV path and into the cool, damp forest were the footing was mostly pine needles and moss. Hardly any rocks or tree roots! The herd path was well-worn and easy to follow. It started out with yellow blazes but they dwindled in number as you get closer to the top. The top was completed wooded with no views. The best views were while descending along the ATV trail, and even those were only mediocre due to the continued smoke/haze from the western wild fires. The notepad inside the summit canister was pretty damp and smelly. Flipped through it for a while hoping it would dry out.
