Not much to add. Dexhiker's report from 8-12-2019 is an excellent report that is worth reading. Where his trip report came from the Rangeley/Oquossoc side, I wanted to add the road distance coming in from the Eustis side of Tim Pond Rd. At the junction of Kennebago River Rd, there was no sign to indicate the road. We relied on the gated road heading to the Kennebago Kamps to orient ourselves on the Maine Delorme Gazette. Not every road is listed in the Delorme Gazette, so be wary of that.
From the parking spot, we walked along the road until we reached a cairn on the left. We followed the old logging road through the neck high plants (but with a beaten down path through them) until we reached a 4 way intersection and a cairn. We went straight and uphill as the road looped us around to another cairn. To the right, about 100 feet is another cairn and a herd path leading into the woods. This was probably the trickiest spot as the herd path is not well defined for about 75 feet. So if you can locate the other side, then the herd path is fairly obvious to follow up to the summit.
When we go back to our vehicle, a couple of jeeps went up the road and beyond the parking lot. |
