Comments: There's a different side to Mount Blue that most people don't get to see!

After starting up the Mount Blue Trail, I turned right off the trail just past the old watchman's cabin. From here, I bushwhacked through mixed woods for about half a mile. It was pretty easy going for the most part until I reached a steep sidehill section in thicker boreal forest. After traversing this section, I broke out onto the large talus field on the south side of Mount Blue. This was quite an amazing place with no sign of human traffic and spectacular views to the south and west. The foliage is really starting to show up well!

From the top of the talus field, it was less than a 1/3 mile to the summit, but it was extremely slow going. The steep slopes were covered in a very thick boreal forest, and there were many cliffs and boulders to work around. Eventually I reached the solar panels near the summit. On the summit, it was as windy as usual, and there were amazing views in all directions. After spending some time at the summit, it was an easy descent back to the parking lot.
