Today's weather finally felt seasonable for our hike up East Royce. We parked at the East Royce Trail parking lot, and started with a road walk to the Laughing Lion Trail. This oddly named trail is only 1 mile long, but it quite steep. After reaching the Royce Trail, we turned right and used the Royce Connector and East Royce Trails to reach the summit. We visited both viewpoints (north and south facing) near the summit, but didn't linger too long due to the windy and cold conditions. However, the views were spectacular today and we could see snow on the Presidentials. We descended via the East Royce Trail, which made for a quick descent back to the car. |
