Uphill Ski Trail from Saddleback Ski Resort Lodge, AT (out/back)
I bare-booted most of the way up before putting on Hillsound trail crampons for the last 1/2 mile. Estimated 10-20 mph winds on exposed ridge and pretty cloudy/fog-like. It was hard to find the trail at first but persistence won out and pretty soon I was on Saddleback peak. I progressed onward to tab Saddleback Horn. Along the way there were occasional drifts but the biggest challenge was the NW wind and windchill. Although I carried them, I never ended up putting on snowshoes. I think my overall pace would have been hindered for the infrequent sections when they would have been helpful. I was happy to have a few views open up upon returning to Saddleback summit and the winds subsided after dropping down about 500-600 ft of elevation.
