Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at the parking lot for Sand Beach which was busy at 9:30am but still had spots available. When we returned at 11:30am there were many cars parked in the road (cars are allowed to park in the right lane here). Cross the road for the trail.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No blowdowns on either trail .Beehive Trail is blazed in blue and is easy to follow though I still managed to begin going the wrong way up a scramble. Not hard to follow though. I believe Bowl Trail was blazed in blue as well; it was also easy to follow.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Going up the steep southern ridge of the Beehive via the ladders and all is absolutely not do-able for dogs. Hiking dogs could easily do the come up the backside though.
Bugs
Bugs: None
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Dad left his pack at The Bowl and some kind folks brought it back for us :)

Comments
Comments: A family vacation means an opportunity to get my Maine redlining back on :) Windy and cloudy day with only partial views from the summit due to low cloud. Temps at the base in the low 60s in the morning.

Mom and I headed up the Beehive via the cliff route. Very well marked and maintained with iron rungs everywhere you’d want them but still a very scrambly and exposed route that should absolutely not be attempted by people who are scared of heights. This is a very busy trail even on a weekday so there will be people waiting on you to scramble up and going back down this trail due to both the people and the scrambling would be a very bad idea. Nothing in the White Mountains that I can immediately think to compare it to. From the summit, we dropped down the back side and descended to The Bowl along the Beehive Trail where we met dad. We then walked along some bog bridges to Bowl Trail which took us back to our car. I did a quick out-and-back along a connector trail between Bowl Trail and a minor col just west of The Beehive. It’s shown on Gaia as Bowl Trail but it’s really just a connector. Technically it wouldn’t seem needed for redlining. With out-and-back and all, the hike was almost 2mi with 500ft of gain.
