Today's hike was a short and sweet one up Aziscohos Mountain to the west of Rangeley. Since I last hiked it, logging has taken place which has impacted the lower section of the trail, but the upper part remains the same. The area where the trail crosses through the logged area has some muddy sections, but the trail is generally in good shape. The views from the top were spectacular in all directions, and Aziscohos remains one of the hikes which gives the most reward for modest effort. The trail was quite busy today, but we did get the top to ourselves for a while. On the way back, we stopped at Big Falls to take a quick dip in the frigid water. |
