| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked along Porter Brook Road, about a mile from its junction with the Oxbow Express. Around this area there are many old logging paths working their ways up to the swath; however if you check Google maps satellite, around this 1-1.2mi area is a particularly clear herd path that gets you very close to the international border. |

| Surface Conditions: |

|
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Technically no water crossings but the area around Dennison Bog was incredibly wet…boot sucking mud. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The swath itself was ok with low vegetation, but very muddy in many places. |

Morning hike of Boundary Peak from the US side. To save you from closed gates and collapsed bridges, from Route 16 take Morton Cutoff to Lincoln Pond Road (changes to Tim Pond Road) to Beaver Pond Tote Road to Wiggle Brook Road to Oxbow Express to Porter Brook Road. See above for parking and hike start. This is a tough up-and-down-up-and-down hike, particularly having to ascend and descend the early and STEEP ~3400ft peak. Enjoyable views into Maine and Canada afforded by the swath. I’ll mention the mud and bugs again! Canister was full of water and I couldn’t open it. Truly a super unique and challenging hike. Note in case you’re attempting this later in the year…check the Canadian moose hunting season schedule as there are many moose blinds and salt licks. |
