| Water Crossing Notes: |
The board is in place on the Carrabassett River crossing. It would be a very difficult crossing without the board. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The "bushwhack" to Mt Redington is very easy to follow. I had a GPS track, but you don't really need one. The descent from South Crocker towards Redington was extremely wet because of all the rain on Thursday. The AT down South Crocker and up to the Sugarloaf spur and the ridge over to Spaulding were also very wet, with water flowing down the trail in many sections. The trail maintenance crew was doing an excellent job clearing blowdowns on the Mt Abraham Side Trail. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
The trail maintenance crew on the Mt Abraham Side Trail brought "Murphy", a very friendly black labradoodle, to the Spaulding Shelter |
|
| Bugs: |
Bugs were bothersome when stopping to rest |

| Comments: |
Hiked to Mt Redington, then back to South Crocker, then down to Caribou Valley Rd and up to the ridge below Sugarloaf. Continued to Spaulding Mt, then dropped most of my stuff at the Spaulding Shelter, then continued to Mt Abraham and back to the shelter. There were eight people in the shelter, plus at least ten others camping nearby. Many were AT thru-hikers (one SOBO, the rest NOBO). |
