 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at Saddleback Mt ski area, no issues. I had printed out a suggested route up the ski trails, but a nice young woman in the base lodge suggested a different route, via a gravel road on the left side of the mountain and then "The Pass" across to the Grey Ghost and Tri-Color trails. I took her suggestion, and I think the gravel road worked out well. |

Trains are in good shape. There is one long very wet and muddy section between Saddleback Mt and The Horn. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw a few dogs heading up the ski trails. |

 | Bugs: |
The bugs didn't bother me too much on this hike. Maybe it was too windy for them. |

 | Comments: |
Second hike of the day. After hiking down from Spaulding Shelter, I drove over to Saddleback and hiked up via the ski trails. I didn't start up until about 1:00, so I didn't have time to use the AT route. The Saddleback ridge is outstanding and the views were great, and using the ski trails is a pleasant way to hike to it. I was surprised at how difficult the route between Saddleback and The Horn is. |
