Comments
Comments: Another lovely Waterford, ME gem that I found in "Go Take a Hike!" A word of caution. This book was published in 2017 and does not mention the preserve next to the trail and its parking. You will see a parking lot and kiosk for the preserve first and you may be confused, because the lot is not on the opposite side of the street as it is described in the book. Go several hundred feet further, the lot is on the left. Or since they link up, go from the preserve itself. Looks like a pretty spot, will return someday.

The jeep road is pretty straightforward, just follow it up to the top. Never gets very steep, had no problems. There are ledges to the left, but the views are obstructed. Keep going to the end and there are wonderful views. Just keep an eye on young children and dogs. It's called Hawk Mtn for a reason, you can go in the spring and fall to watch the migration of a great variety of hawks, ospreys, etc.
