Comments
Comments: It was another day of perfect weather for winter hiking on one of my favorite peaks today! There was very little wind, and I was actually able to eat my lunch at the summit without freezing. The trail was clear and well maintained, as usual. I put spikes on where the trail broke out onto the open ledge, not far from the summit. They were definitely a necessity on the steep icy rock, and the hike would have been pretty much impossible without them. I continued to the East Ridge viewpoint from the summit, and the spikes were needed the whole way. There's nothing quite as beautiful as winter scenery in the mountains!

It's worth noting that this hike often isn't possible in winter due to ice on turbine blades. Be sure to call the number at the trailhead to make sure hiking is allowed on the day you want to go.
