Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: A medium-large sized gravel lot is found along Barnestown Rd in Camden just north of its jct with Gillette Rd. Could easily hold well over a dozen cars. Maybe two dozen?? A car or two was there when I was starting and finishing. Seems like a popular spot to pull off the road ;P The lot was soft and had puddles but not so soft as to have any issues with just FWD.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail is blazed in blue. Some spots where additional blaze and/or cairns could be used. From an erosion standpoint, the trail is rather eroded and surprisingly wide. I wouldn’t have thought this trail gets quite as much use as it seems to!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure
Bugs
Bugs: None
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: There’s some trash along the trail, most of which I did not pick up. Orange peels do not biodegrade as quickly as people seem to think.

Comments
Comments: After almost 2 weeks of not hiking I was starting to get cranky! Drove out to Camden area for a few more days of redlining before work starts back up. By the time I got my slacker ass out here, it was nearly 3pm so didn’t have time for much before sunset. This fit the bill.

The start of the trail through the field is a little soft/muddy but really not bad at all. The trail itself was getting wet as it had begun listing/drizzling maybe 30min-1hr before I’m guessing but not real mud on the trail. Rock/ledge seemed relatively grippy given how wet it was. Only slid once. Nice stone step work. Is rocket21 secretly cheating on the Mt Tecumseh Trail and coming out here to do trail work on the side?!? The trail becomes rather steep at times but no real scrambling. Pretty family friendly hike. I could see the ski trails and the summit of Ragged Mtn at times but it was very cloudy (and lowering) and no views of the ocean were had :( Nice cairn at the top but I was either clueless to, or they’ve removed the interpretive sign at the summit. Gaia had me at 2.25mi, 600ft of gain, 1hr.
