NOTE: The prior trailhead located off Locke Mountain road is closed (for logging). There is a new trail head closer to Bethel about 1/4 from Daisy Bryant road at 305 North Road (look for 305 on a tree) turn off North road and you'll see the large parking lot and trail kiosk. On Map trail is listed as under construction. Note there is logging in the area beyond the original trailhead and a posted sign says that Bingham Cascades trail is currently closed. |

 | Comments: |
As noted original trailhead is closed due to logging. The new Trail is obvious (groomed) and largely follows old roads but will add about 2 miles each way to your trip. Follow groomed trail about 1.5 miles to a sharp left turn where you will see a blue blaze and a small sign for the trail trail. Then follow this for about 1/2 mile to the original trailhead on Locke Mountain road. This stretch is fairly hard frozen granular snow and as said was a groomed track. At the original trailhead picked up the summit ridge trail - one set of tracks prior to us on frozen granular snow a couple of inches deep. Boots or light traction fine the track is not wide enough for snowshoes. Made it up to the picnic knoll before turnaround time; no tracks beyond here on the summit ridge trail. Spoke with skier who indicated summit access road was plowed and bit icy. |
