On Saturday we hiked up the AT from rt. 4 to Saddleback and The Horn under beautiful blue skies. We dropped our camping gear at Eddy Pond along the way, and then decided to return to Eddy Pond via Berry Pickers Trail and Fly Rod Crosby/ITS 84. The walk back on the multi-use path was mostly uphill (sad face), but was lined with wildflowers and we enjoyed the opportunity to make a little loop and explore some new places. Back at Eddy Pond, we met Little Monkey, Hiking Viking, and Nightwing who were also camping there.
On Sunday we hiked back out to rt. 4. We stopped to explore the Piazza Rock area and the caves--a very worthwhile exploration! Of course we had to make use of Your Move.
We stopped in Rangeley for lunch, then spent some time at the Maine Outdoor Heritage Museum. Also a worthwhile stop to learn about the history of the area! |
