Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We used the Barnjum Rd to access the South Side trailhead. We drove in all the way with our Tacoma. Will definitely need a high clearance vehicle if going soon. The road was clear, bridges ok, but culverts left some deep dips that required care in crossing. There are patches of ice on road. Will want to go soon before snow or more ice takes over. This road will become snowmobile only, soon.

Comments
Comments: Road was the sketchiest part of the trip. Weather was warm and foggy. Trail was great. Barebooted the trail since snow was minimal. Up top, lots of time above treeline on slick rocks. Trail is marked well with cairns but those will get tougher to see. There’s one spot that’s easy to lose trail when it drops from one peak into the trees for a sec. It looks like it goes nowhere but it’s exactly where the cairns imply you should go. No views for us, but a perfect day to bag a winter peak.
