 | Comments: |
Abol Stream Trail and the roads were well packed by snowmobiles. The trails to South Turner from Roaring Brook were broken out the day before by a group of 5 with one postholing. Lots of snow up there. 4 of us packed it down more with snowshoes and filled in the postholes the best we could. Snowshoes used the whole way, although crampons could also work above treeline. The last quarter mile or so to the summit is fully exposed with some rocks above the snow. Fantastic views of Katahdin and surrounding peaks. |
