The trail is well blazed in blue and easy to follow. It also has some blue surveyors tape on it (mostly down low Ibelieve) much of whch is on the ground now. I tried to take a good deal of it out with me.
Maybe I'm missing something here, but I'm pretty sure that the dirt road is 0.2mi west (or really north) of the jct of Rt 2 and 232 in Rumford Point. There is a small sign roadside. From there, the guidebook's description is accurate. The dirt road to access the parking is narrow but I don't think it was rough so I believe any car should be okay.
A very nice little hike after morning mass with one of Lil Young's friends who was visiting. This is a very family friendly hike. The trail was mostly dry with the exception of around where it crosses the skidder road where there was a good deal of wetness and some mud. If you feel like cutting the hike a little short, you can easily just go to the viewpoint at 0.5mi which isn't much different than the one at the end of the trail. Gaia had us at 1.4mi, 450ft of gain. |
