Comments
Comments: There seems to be some confusion as to whether Bull Branch Rd is open. Currently there is a sign blocking the road stating it is closed. The major washouts seem to be largely repaired but these sections are still rough (a high clearance vehicle with good tires would probably be fine). The road walk adds on approximately 3 miles round trip but it's a pleasant and leisurely stroll. Despite the road closure the outhouse at Frenchman's Hole is open and stocked with TP.
The trail itself is a real delight, a little bit of everything! For the most part it's in good shape but man, the sections of mud on the last mile before the summit is a sight to behold. Mostly avoidable with careful navigation and use of poles, rocks, and logs. But one wrong step and you might just be knee deep in it! The views are incredible though, can't wait to come back to this one and spend some more time above the treeline and along the brook.
