| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I recollect one stepover on the Notch Trail (took out one other one). Numerous blowdowns and a lot of trail creep on the Mahoosuc Trail. Numerous failed bog bridges on May Cutoff. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
I would not recommend bringing a dog into Mahoosuc Notch due to all of the bouldering. |

Deer fly down low on Notch Trail. Otherwise, fairly minimal. |

| Comments: |
Notch Trail was fairly dry this morning. Generally good footing. Saw a moose.
Mahoosuc Notch was greasy in places. Slow going as usual.
Mahoosuc Trail northbound had lots of wet/slippery ledges. Nasty mudbog at the May Cutoff junction.
May Cutoff had numerous submerged bog bridges. Trekking poles were very helpful to probe for them.
Speck Pond Trail had some slimy ledge as well. Better going down low.
Mahoosuc Notch and Mahoosuc Trail were relatively busy. The two approaches were fairly quiet.
Noted high elevation birch turning gold and hobblebush starting to go red.
Partly sunny morning giving way to clouds in the afternoon. Made it out before the showers started. |
