| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I think Williams Mtn Rd was in fine shape for pretty much any car. The "minor double-track road" was much rougher and you're going to want mid-clearance for that. The driving directions were accurate. Look for a narrow place to pull your car off the road about 1/3mi in. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The lower/new portion of the trail is blazed in blue and heavily marked with pink surveyors tape but is not really established yet. The main trail was also blazed in blue and maybe with some yellow diamonds too?? Surveyors tape was still present I believe. The trail is overgrown in some brushy areas and could be trimmed back. I don't remember the blowdown situation but there were probably a few. |

5th and final hike of the day after Mtn Link by Big Moose, Burnt Jacket by Lily Bay, the B-52 plane crash site, and Mt Kineo. This was a cool one. The trail was pleasant, not dissimilar rom Number 4/5 Mtn or Trout Mtn just outside BSP. Moderate grades and some varied woods/cool areas. The old cabin was amazing and there were some cool views as well. Note that the loop near the summit is rather obscure for redlining pruposes. There seemed to be two different loops to me, both very short. Probably herd paths that over time formed a couple loops. In any event, I whacked from the end of the trail or loop to the true summit, which, by my estimation, is NOT the one right by the fire tower, but is about 0.1mi away on another knob just to the SW. Woods were not bad getting there. There were some signs of moose in here and along the trail.
Also, before starting trail proper, I descended the new trail to what they're hoping will be a new parking area. This is not very well established but is very well blazed; just a random path through the woods right now. At the bottom, I walked Williams Mtn Rd and the logging road back to the main trail. Gaia had me at 4.2mi, 800ft of gain, 2hr. |
