Continuing to work on my NE 3ks by spending a few days in September chasing all the trail-less peaks. Drove up the logging road that follows the Clearwater Brook drainage, following the main road to a junction at ~2100'. I parked the truck here and followed the left fork past a rock barricade until I was about due east of Pisgah. I bushwhacked straight up the slope through mostly open woods with several steep cliff bands. Near the top, I found an excellent view ledge and a short band of thick spruce guarding it. The summit ridge, however, was mostly open woods with some thick spots. I found the cannister without trouble, but was unable to open the lid. I continued north through moderate woods to the Canadian border which I followed to ~3000' on N Sisk and followed mostly open woods to N Sisk's obvious summit. I was also unable to open this cannister. After N Sisk, I found some excellent view ledges (visible from the height of land on the Beaudry Road) which I highly recommend if you're hitting these peaks. The remaining section of the ridge to Sisk was uneventful and fairly open woods. I bushwhacked through logging regrowth to a road which I followed back to the truck. These peaks were much more interesting than I had expected. I plan to return to Pisgah and N Sisk eventually. |
