Parked the truck at the Snow Mountain trail parking area. Followed the warden's trail to the pond. Went up Snow Mtn because it was a nice day and I appreciate views. Followed the trail back to the pond and followed a logging road that paralleled Round Mtn until I was SW of the peak. I bushwhacked up to the ridge in moderate woods. I was unable to find the cannister on any of the several summit bumps that were of reasonable height. I continued along the ridge through alternating thick and open woods to the SW Peak and its very obvious summit bump, where I was again unable to locate a cannister. The saddle between the SW and SE peaks was very steep going down and quite steep ascending. The woods remained moderate. The SE peak I was able to easily find the cannister. I then followed the very steep and surprisingly thick woods down to Round Mtn Pond where I followed the camp road to the main road which I followed back up to the truck. These peaks were more difficult than I anticipated. |
