Perfect weather & trail conditions today. Fast & easy to the split, 1st real climb starts here for a real short time. Moderate climbing with some nice level parts to
catch your breath. Couple of viewpoints before the ledges. The last 1/2 mile was a tough climb. We took a break & soaked up the views on the ledges. After the initial
steep climb the grade lessened & the last bit to top was quick. Great views but the bugs were brutal. We went back to the top of the ledges for lunch. Stunning views,
weather was perfect. Really steep down with 1 spot that had some water on the rocks. Only 10 others did this hike today. Saw several AT finishers on trail with several
at the day use area. This hike doesn't see the crowds & is a definite hidden gem in Baxter! |
