Black Mountain Road was in good shape overall, with two dodgy spots that I was able to get around with my Honda Fit. Light coating of snow and ice patches. |

Solo hike up Black (east summit) via Big Chief with loop over the top using Connector and Summit trails. Very little snow at base, about 1"-4" variable depth above, lots of rock showing except on north facing ledges where there was a lot of ice and snow. Good day to wreck a pair of microspikes but hey hikers got to hike and I love this peak. Didn't see another soul. |
