Comments
Comments: I had a very successful day hiking both crockers and reddington. I started from the sugarloaf golf course, and followed a herd path from the 11th hole to caribou valley road. The path was very well traveled and even had some tap and blazes to follow. It took an hour to reach the trailhead. There was snow and wind that morning so the trail to south crocker was partly drifted in. It was an easy hike up to the south peak except the open boulder field, where the trail got hard to follow. Once I started climbing up to north crocker there were many many trees down and hanging branches. But I managed to push through it all without many issues. I am over 6 feet and was able to get through the blowdowns. It took an hour each way to hike the mile over to the north peak. From the south peak viewpoint, I bushwacked towards reddington. The usual herd path was not really possible to follow but I did see some tape on trees once in a while to keep me on track. There was deep snow and many spruce traps in this section. Eventually I found the snowmobile trail in the col. I followed this a short ways and was very happy to find that there was already a solid snowshoe track going up reddington. I was an easy walk down the snowmobile trail to get back to caribou road. I spent 9 hours out there. It snowed throughout the day so my tracks are already buried.
