Comments: Thanks to Sam Shirley for breaking out trail to South peak and the little pond. Started off Sunny… then snow squalls… then sunny. Beautiful snowshoe track forming. I explored a great deal between south peak and the pond so there are quite a few tracks going everywhere. On Gaia I saw an opening on the north side of the flat top of the mountain so I went past the pond… did a short bushwack and popped out to a bog. I ventured across the bog, hung a left and hooked up with a skidded trail leading west. That’s when I saw a high point NW. I broke trail in over 2 ft of snow going up towards that high point with a big tree at the top. My lord… the views from that were amazing. Nice view of Speckled & Bald mountains… Mt Blue, Saddleback wind, and the Susarloafs. There was another high spot further north but I didn’t go to it because it was snowing pretty good looking North. I could also see the true summit which looks to be a challenging bushwack. I also saw another bog and South peak. 360 views from that spot I was standing on. I went back the way I came so I’ve blazed a path the best I could solo with snowshoes. Excellent hike if you want it… very cool plateau with 4 high points.
