 | Comments: |
Started at 8am at the beginning of Rapid Stream Road and wanted to try to drive to the summer lot. Big mistake. Tires on my truck sunk into the snow and spent an hour digging out. The Rapid Stream Road has had snowmobile traffic and was well packed out. Mount Abraham trail had snowshoe tracks and plenty of blue blazes, so navigation was easy up to treeline. On the last 0.5 miles to the summit above treeline, the winds were 40+ mph. No tracks, but firm snow, ice, and exposed rock. Route finding was needed. The temperatures were rising into the high 30s on the way down and the trail was getting soft. |
