Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I parked at the first parking area I saw on Punkinville Rd which is not shown on Gaia and is the one the guidebook says is for Schoodic Connector Trail rather than Baker Hill. Mid-sized dirt parking area with room for maybe a dozen cars or so. I was the only one there at both 11am and 6pm.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Ice - Black, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet Trail, Ice - Blue, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Snow - Spring Snow, Snow/Ice - Small Patches
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I think the only crossing was of Johnny's Brook and this was very easy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The guidebook says that Baker Hill Loop is marked with blue triangles and Boundary Trail with red blazes. Schoodic Connector is blazed in blue, sometimes faded I think, and blue surveyors tape at times, such as along the jeep trail. Not too hard to follow, just keep an eye out for cairns on/off roads and realize that the jeep trail sometimes braids and stick to the main path. Small cluster of leaner blowdowns in the vicinity of Long Pond Hill and a few other leaners, shortly thereafter.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fine trails for dogs but I think they're supposed to be leashed.
Bugs
Bugs: None
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: First hike if the day on my second day AirBnB-ing and redlining in Maine. It was good to be back :) From the parking area for Schoodic Connector Trail (not shown on Gaia) which is just south of the one described for Baker Hill in the guidebook, I took the short connecting path (mentioned in guidebook) to the main loop, did an OAB to the main parking area, hiked the loop trail to the summit, did an OAB on Boundary Trail, then took Schoodic Connector Trail all the way to Schoodic Mtn. On way way back, I did the spur needed for redlining to Schoodic Bog Rd, then hiked Punkinville Rd back to my car, then did a short OAB along the loop trail between the parking and Boundary Trail. I may have started in spikes but I think I took them off pretty quickly but they were needed again along Boundary Trail. I wouldn't necessary recommend rock beaters as you're probably going to need a bit of bite. That being said, most of the hike was spent without spikes on. Make sure not to miss the turn into the woods to cross Johnny's Brook downstream of the beaver dam. There was more snow on this hike than on the others I recently did in the area, namely in the long stretch between Long Pond and the Downeast Sunrise Trail. It was on again, off again, and never very deep but still enough to be rather tedious. The roads the trail follows shortly before the jeep trail had huge puddles on them and some mud. The jeep trail was steep but beyond that the trial was pretty flat. Very little snow/ice here. Didn't see anyone else on the trails. It was cool to approach Schoodic from another direction and enjoy the great views from this mountain two days in a row! Gaia had me at 13.5mi, 1700ft of gain, 6hr42min.
