Comments
Comments: got up there early enough to get first tracks to the summit in the new snow. roughly 4-6 inches of new snow (with deeper sections) over a firm base through the lower hardwoods and up to the eyebrow trail junction.

from there were sections with less new snow and others heavily drifted in as the trail meandered up towards the summit. the last mile had consistently deeper snow with many sections drifted well over a foot.

the final climb up to the mahoosuc junction had the deepest snow of the day and was blown over knee deep in spots. mahoosuc trail had drifted snow roughly 6-12 inches on average. prior to this new snow some sections of the old speck trail look to have been pretty thin so there was still some minor ice underneath in a couple places as well as some rocks and stumps you need to watch out for.

a number of people have been up after me today some in snowshoes, but surprisingly more coming up without so the trail may be choppy as well as drifted in given the winds. i wore snowshoes the whole hike. put the tails on my msrs for the ascent and the upper part of the descent and they were quite helpful.

nice to get out in some fresh snow. relatively warm, but windy though this route was mostly protected from the wind today. hadn't been on this trail in a few years, but thankfully only walked off of it once and got back on pretty quickly. really felt like winter today. great to be out.
