|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Crossing of Bickford Brook on the Blueberry Ridge Trail was an easy stride or small jump. Landing rock was wet with moss but I didn't slip.
All other crossings were minor. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I cut about 10 or 12 trees across the trails. There remains one large evergreen across the Bickford Brook Trail in the uppermost hardwood area. I cut many limbs to allow for passage over the trunk. A large saw or ax will be required to remove this tree. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Fine for dogs |
|
 | Bugs: |
Lots of black fly on the lower section of the Blueberry Ridge Trail. They weren't biting but were a nuisance. I put the head net on. |

 | Comments: |
Lots of leaves in places on the lower section of the Bickford Brook Trail that hid underlying loose rocks and sticks. There are some wet somewhat steep ledges on the Blueberry Ridge Trail above the brook crossing and below the large outlook ledge of Evans Notch. The ledges uphill from Blueberry Mountain were mostly dry. Only one 2 foot patch of snow of the Blueberry Ridge Trail. There are many more patches of snow on the upper portions of the Bickford Brook Trail. None of these patches were deep nor did they extend over much distance. No snowshoes or traction are required.
Plenty of great views from the ledges and the summits.
Saw yellow violets and spring beauty. No rhodora nor trillium.
Met two hikers on the Blueberry Ridge Trail and talked with Joanie on Speckled Mountain. She had come up Cold Brook Trail.
Saw two spruce grouse and one turkey. |
