Success Pond Rd. open, usually bumpy areas with mud puddles and minor dips; just take it easy in those areas; 45 minutes from Hutchins St. to Speck Pond Trailhead.. |

Though water was running high, first two crossings were rock hopped; many small drainages running strong with easy step overs or a rock to help out... |

This was a hike for trail work to the Sharp Turn, then up into the softwood forest; not all the way to the Pond; large Black Spruce blowdown about 10 minutes in from trail head parking; another large yellow birch widown maker hanging over trail shortly after the Sharp Turn; |

Cleaned drainages, removed debris, sawed up half dozen small/medium sized blowdowns; trimmed many protruding whips on the way up and back; my section is only to the Sharp Turn, but I continued up into the hardwood area, then into the softwood area cleaning drainages and trimming and blowdown removal, since that section not adopted; beautiful waterfalls near the sharp turn.. |
