 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails are lightly blazed and with blowdowns starting just above Bald Mountain. Encountered an incredible amount of blowdowns above Bull Brook Campsite spur and increasing exponentially closer to the summit of Old Speck. I removed many but with only a smaller silky i barely put a dent in them. The trail is passable just lots of walkarounds and overs. Frequency above Bull Brook would be a series of blowdowns every 175-200 feet. I did chat with Americorps volunteers with a basecamp at Bald Mountain Campsite that were working on the trail. Great group and true heros of the trail. Old Speck Trail had a number of blowdowns but in much better shape. I removed a few there as well |

Excellent two night backpacking trip of the western side of the Grafton Loop. Went in monday evening stayed at Bald Mountain campsite which was full but the Americorp lead kindly directed me to an overflow tentsite. Second night at Bull Brook Campsite . All sites on this part of loop have bear boxes and a privy.while the trail above bull brook Campsite is laden with a tremondous amount of blowdowns it was no issue. |
