Comments
Comments: Trail was a little rough. Mostly icy leaves or icy rock with a couple inches of fresh powder on top. Very slippery, spikes were critical. Not enough snow for snowshoes if you're just hitting old Speck, the trail is pretty packed out.

I went down to the pond and it got deep and drifty at times but snowshoes were only helpful for a quarter mile or so then they became a hazard on the more technical sections. Tbh could have left them in the car but oh well. There was a lot of steep flow ice. The scrambly exposed section right after the junction was fairly sketchy and I would not have said no if my ice axe had magically appeared. Manageable in spikes though if you're careful.

Shelter was absolutely lovely, lots of moose tracks around and I think I heard the moose wandering around after sunset. Stay on the bog bridges by the pond! The mud is still wet and deep!

Eyebrow trail was very icy but the ladders and rungs over the waterfall are still mostly clear.
