Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The biggest issue I noticed is that blazes are too far apart. I could stand at certain spots and not see the next blaze in either direction. Probably not a big deal in summer when the footbed is visible, but in unbroken snow the trail corridors were difficult to follow in places. This was especially evident on North Ridge Trail as the blazes are white.

Comments: Santa gifted me a nice first visit to Pleasant Mtn. Thanks, buddy.

Since the new snow was soft and loose, I went with snowshoes round-trip. Admittedly, the snowshoeing was a bit tedious on the lower part of Bald Peak Trail as there are still enough rock and root surprises under the snow. This trail looked like it had an old snowshoe track that had since been booted, so I tried to smooth it out. Unfortunately, three hikers came up after me who were not wearing 'shoes, so my efforts were erased. Ideally, several more inches of snow would greatly improve conditions on all of these trails.

Fire Warden's Trail looked like it been traveled very recently (yesterday, maybe) by one hiker in snowshoes.

North Ridge and Sue's Way hadn't been touched in a while and don't look like they get a ton of use. So I broke out both of those. Can't say I was a fan of Sue's Way with the current conditions. The boulder section near the top required caution as I couldn't tell if there were holes under the snow.

Super view at all the outlooks and the ridge walk between Bald Peak and the summit is lovely. I did not climb the abandoned fire tower ladder although it's clear that people do. Heed the warning signs.

Looking forward to coming back here to check out the other trails. Great mountain!
