Comments
Comments: Nice set of peaks for Mt. Abram apres-ski. Trails are sort of meh due to logging activity, but the views from the peaks are fantastic.

Logging Road was rough due to frozen divots from bareboot Microspike activity. Bucks Ledge Trail was also fairly solid on the flats, but soft on the south-facing climb (neat how the trail threads its way between the cliffs). Great views of Mt. Abram and the Presidentials. Microspikes would have been adequate for an out-and-back.

J-n-J Backcountry Trail hadn't seen activity before this week's snow and subsequent rain. With the above-freezing temperatures, it was pretty soft, and therefore light snowshoes were the most efficient way to go. Good going until I encountered a Microspiker leaving random postholes. Moody had good directional views toward the Whites and Presidentials just before the summit.

Slushy descent down to Logging Road, where a cross country skier had been through. Unfortunately a gang of barebooters attempted to follow their tracks for a bit, until they gave up postholing and turned around.

Decent directional view from Lapham Ledge, but not as expansive as Bucks.

Lapham Ledge Trail was really rough between the parking lot and the peak, as barebooters during the previous warmup left nasty ice postholes in their wake.

Overall, the snowpack was complete, ranging from 3 to 12 inches. Nearby North Pond is solidly frozen over, with folks fishing and racing cars on it.

Partly sunny late morning/early afternoon 4.3 mile loop with temperatures in the low to mid 40s.
