Comments
Comments: Started at Chimney Pond, out and back via Hamlin Ridge. Snowshoed about 1/3 way along Hamlin Ridge then snow blown off and switched to crampons (K10’s). Random trek from Hamlin to cairns on NW Basin Trail. Balsam scrub between NW Basin trail and Saddle braided paths and postholing potential. Pitch between Baxter cut off & Cathedral Trails very hard frozen surface, almost solid ice in places. Ice axe/whippets out for sure. Incredible blue bird day with only light wind on Baxter Peak. Really amazing. (Area received ~5” 2/11 so conditions could be vastly changed if snow not blown off higher elevations.)
