Fantastic 10+ mile hike around the undeveloped coastline of Long Island/ Frenchboro mostly within the Frenchboro Preserve. Hiked clockwise, connecting via roads in the town itself. Made the short trail detour to the mossy forested small mountain that is the high point of the island. Trails are narrow and very rugged but relatively easy to follow and blazed in blue with intersection signs. Some segments pass over cobble beaches and through seaside meadows or along cliff tops. Very beautiful coastal scenery. No bugs, no people. There were only two of us on the state-run ferry. |
