 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I was the 4th car in the lot this morning. The lot is quite large with plenty of room. Privies are open and well stocked. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |

|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
All are just little streams and easy to cross. They are flowing nicely if you need to filter water. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There are a few blowdowns on the AT and on the Table Rock spur trail but they can be easily stepped over. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
No puppers seen today. :( This route should be fine for well experienced trail dogs. Once above treeline, water is limited but in the trees there are quite a few stream for drinking. |
|
 | Bugs: |
I had a few issues with mosquitoes down low on the AT. Black flies were out and biting on all the open summit areas. The mosquito farms along the Table Rock spur are thriving. |
|
 | Lost and Found: |
Nothing lost and nothing found |

 | Comments: |
With June for G2 gridded out and a few days remaining in the month, it was time to go home. Grafton Notch, particularly the Baldpates, is my very favorite place ever. So I set off early this morning to beat the heat and was successful. The AT is muddy in spots and some mud is slick but was no big deal. Some of the areas where water is running on the trail made for slightly wet rocks but overall the steep .75 past the lean-to was no big deal. The slabs up the East peak were delightfully dry and grippy and I climbed up without issue. The spur for the Table Rock trail was the muddiest section of the whole morning but there are rocks placed to avoid most of it. The stream on that section was flowing nicely. I met 1 SOBO first thing this morning and had a nice chat with him and then met 1 NOBO towards the top of the East peak and we had a pleasant conversation as well. Other than them I only saw day hikers but everyone seemed to be in great spirits and were enjoying the day. It was so good to be back in my happy place. |
