Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I tried driving the Stacyville Road from Millinocket. DO NOT TAKE THIS ROAD! It became impassable about 2/3 of the way to KWW from Millinocket. Later I learned from several others hikers that Roberts Road is passable, but I don’t know specific conditions. KWW roads (Swift Brook, Loop and Orin Falls) remain passable, but rough in places. I saw several low clearance vehicles that made it to the trailhead. Lots of parking at Orin Falls trailhead.

Water Crossing Notes: While I did not cross the ford of Wassataquoik, it looked easy to cross - about mid shin deep at most and not running too fast.

Comments
Comments: I’m reporting here mainly regarding road conditions. I spent so much time on Stacyville Road that by the time I gave up and drove the Interstate to Sherman I did not have time to make it to Deasey. Hiking to Orin Falls was a beautiful way to enjoy what time I had. Also, note that the Deasey Pond trailhead (a short, but beautiful hike ending at Deasey Pond) is several miles before the Orin Falls trailhead approach to Deasey Mountain.

Of additional note, the new viewing area on the Loop Road is spectacular!
