Purpose was to rent a canoe and paddle Lower Fowler Pond. Carefully read canoe rental instructions multiple times. Had to pick up a key ($8/day) at Trout Brook Farm Campground (a few miles up the road) and return after paddling/hiking. Life jackets & paddles were with canoes at the pond. Paddled a mile around the perimeter then hiked to Middle Fowler Pond. Canoe areas are well-marked and equipment is in decent condition. The keel was pretty scraped and we added to it because it was hard to get the boat out beyond shore due to big rocks just underwater. Once on the pond it was absolutely gorgeous and calm in the morning. We saw several loons and really soaked it all in. I would definitely visit the other ponds and rent canoes at the other ponds again in future!!! Trails here in the north end of the park are just gorgeous. We actually maybe saw 1 person over the course of the 4.5 or so miles round trip. |
