Comments
Comments: This was as WAY more challenging hike than we were anticipating. The AMC guide says "moderate". We say, "challenging" - there was very little soil once you start to climb. I get the feeling this trail has eroded a lot. And it does climb steeply for seemingly forever. Once at treeline, it was nice to have a flat break. From there it took us a long time to find the way up to the summit and lost the blazes a couple times. One of us started having an anxiety attack looking at the rocks and just pushed on. The views were outstanding from the summit and treeline. We took our time descending but from the summit down to the large treeline cairn took us a full 20 minutes to negotiate. We had originally planned to add-on more mileage but we were so mentally and physically drained once we got down that we had to go back to our camping area and nap. It was an experience!!!!
