 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We camped in the north end of the park and were sure to get in the lot well before 7am as the rangers were advising the lots fill up very early. Sure enough, "parking lots full" sign every day we drove by mid-day. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Most had big beautiful bridges. However, 2 of the bridges were being reconstructed so you had to cross the stream yourself - one of the crossings was easy, the lower one was pretty difficult on large jagged rocks with footing below the big jagged rock surfaces. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I know Chimney Pond Trail is "supposed" to be easy. And I remember it was a lot easier years ago because it just didn't seem as eroded then. It was pretty hard on my feet. Mostly rock-hopping for miles. I suggest really thick soles and a sense of humor. |

OK - we weren't planning a big day but wanted to revisit some viewpoints from our earlier years. Blueberry Knoll was as I remember it - just gorgeous. Chimney Pond just amazing too!!!! However, we didn't see hardly anyone (I think they took Helon Taylor Trail up early) but the ones I saw asked really crazy questions, like, "Where is the Saddle Trail" and "Is the trail this rocky all the way up? (He mentioned he already hurt his wrist i think)." Oh dear... but the North Basin Cutoff was beautiful!!! Just a beautiful day to gaze up at the higher summits and enjoy the views!!!! Only a couple people at Chimney pond - one napping and one journaling. Reminder: no swimming in it!!!! |
