Comments
Comments: This was Day #2 on the Uki post-concussion recovery plan and it went swimmingly. The tote road was dry and there was some leaf litter but nothing that obscured the footing. The spring is still flowing nicely if you need water and the foliage is really stunning. The Mt Zircon trail has some deep leaves most of the way so I was just cautious with my footing. All the rocks in the middle section were super wet and slimy so I was used my "rainy day" route to avoid the worst of them. Up higher there was standing water on the trail along with more slick rocks. The summit was mostly dry and the skies were nice and clear with beautiful views. It was sunny and warm so I laid around like a snake in the sun for a bit before heading down. The descent required care due to the leaves and wet rocks but I stayed upright. This was a nice reminder of why the lower peaks can be such a nice choice during shoulder seasons. It was a nice easy hike with a lot of bang for your buck when it comes to views and I am just grateful for any day I can be on top of a mountain. I waved at the Whites from the summit.
