Date of Hike

Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The White Mountain Guide directions were good for finding the trail. New signs have been posted on a tree at the sharp right after the two bridge crossings. Do not get confused by the swimming area parking which is before the trail. There is now an information board at the trailhead. Parking for many vehicles is located just up the road from the trailhead.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Significant, Standing/Running Water on Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water crossings on rocks of which some were slippery with wet moss.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails were free of obstructions and the pathway was obvious with generally good blazes. Most of the bog bridges were broken or deteriorated and other mud areas had no rocks or bridging.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Dogs will do well in the section below the tent site. Beyond this point the trail is steeper with ledge areas which should be ok for many dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: None

Comments
Comments: I had never hiked the Wright Trail. It was a pleasant surprise as an alternate to the Success Pond Road trails to Goose Eye.

The lower portion of the trail parallels the scenic brook and is easy walking up to the tent site. The camping area has a fire pit, log benches, and a log table. Higher up the trail runs along many open ledge areas which provides great views of the Mahoosucs and Sunday River ski area. The traction was good on the rough surfaces on this dry day. There are also great 360 degree views from Goose Eye West and East peaks.

I would not recommend this trail on a rainy day as the ledges may prove troublesome, the mud areas would be miserable, and the brook crossings could be difficult.

Placement of stepping stones in the mud areas in the upper section of trail would improve the footway.

The only person I met on the Wright Trail was the trail maintainer for the upper section of trail. He has done a good job keeping the trail clear.
