Trail Maintenance Notes: The easy herd paths that I took most of the way four years ago are now few and far between. This hike required some pushing through spruce and blowdowns, with some herd paths that kept disappearing.

Comments
Comments: This was a much tougher hike than when Ray Loring and I did it in 2008. It is amazing to find how herd paths can evaporate! Anyway, this is now a bushwhack that will require some navigation and you might get scratched up a bit.

Be careful at the summit area, as there are herd paths in multiple directions. Some promising herd paths head in the wrong direction, as we found out, heading north in error. This forced us to do some tough whacking to the south to get back in line with our ascent route.

Still, it was not too hard or too long, especially when compared to Scar Ridge :) This was the last of my four hikes in Western Maine with Jason B.
